Vodafone are now unlocking phones for free
Word on the street is Vodafone are unlocking phones for free. There are rumours of a new law that requires it but I have nothing concrete. Vodafone contract phones can be unlocked no matter where you are in the Vodafone contract. PAYG have to be at least 12 months old but that makes sense. So they can unlock you when you are still in contract as you can't leave them anyway. And you are tied in for 12 months on PAYG. You could use different SIM cards for different uses at least.
So it is still in their favour but a great step forward I think.
